This was no ordinary day, this was my dear friend Katie’s birthday. We hadn’t exactly meant to all be together on her birthday, it was a happy coincidence of schedules aligning. Four childhood friends spending a few days together. We ate and drank our way through the city, it was pretty amazing. So many laughs and memories with these women.
We started the morning with a walk to get coffee. Fresh Pot was around the corner so we headed out into the damp blue hour light (which might be my favorite hour of the day…)
Heading back to our house we got dressed and ready for the rest of the day.
We showed up a few minutes early, but the wait for lunch at Olympia Provisions did not disappoint. That’s the birthday girl up there giving me the stink eye as she tries to enjoy her cocktail…
It’s not a trip to Portland if you don’t go to Powell’s and get lost in the stacks for a few. Or find the coolest boutiques (this one specializing in salts… isn’t that color amazing?)
Back to our neighborhood for beers and laughs.
Such a great day together. Ladies, I am so glad we were able to spend some much needed Truckee Girl time! Now, to decide on that next destination in two years….

Wowwwee Vanessa! These are just stunning, I can feel the love between you and your friends! I love the blue hour too! And I love the shots in the restaurants and your beautiful birthday friend!! xoxo
the blue hour shots are my favorite too! xo
Oh these are all so gorgeous! Thank goodness for friendship, good food, and fantastic cities.
Portland is probably one of my most favorite places to visit. So much good food, great energy and something to photograph around every corner.
xo
I love Portland! I love that you captured deep friendship and laughter. It’s so good for the soul, isn’t it?
The giggles are strong with this group! and yes, so very good. We hadn’t all been together in one spot for almost 3 years!
What a fun day! I can feel the love and happiness you all shared!
It’s tangible, isn’t it?!
The Powell’s reflection shot may be my favorite – love this little story of your day. xoxo
mine too! I love that place.
A special day so beautifully caught. 🙂 I ca feel the vibes all the way in Cali.
It was an awesome day!
Looks like a grand time! I especially love the morning walk down the rainy street. Killer stuff, girl!
Blue hour is becoming my favorite, even more so then golden. i love the tones it gives my work!
I love them all, especially the one of the bookstore!
thanks so much Maite! I realized I hadn’t shot anything while we were wandering around inside and knew I needed it as part of the day’s story. Glad I slowed down just enough to see this one!
Looks like you all had such a great time together. There is nothing better than connecting with those that you share a history with. Love the stink eye photo of your friend. Happy bday to her!
These girls and I have SO much history. One of them has been my friend before we were ‘on the outside’- our mamas pregnant at the same time.
xo
What a perfect day! Those Bloody Mary’s look amazing!
I think it’s my all time favorite place to get a bloody. The best part? They don’t usually serve them on weekdays, it’s a weekend brunch thing- BUT our waiter was awesome and mixed some up just for us! I love Olympia Provisions!
You captured so much here – beautiful photos, of course, but also the *feel* of the day – the friendship and fun. Lovely
I am so glad it translated through in the images. My biggest goal was to capture the feels. xo
