April’s 5 on 5

It’s Cinco de Mayo, and that means a margarita with a side of chips and salsa, but it also means I get to share my five favorite frames from April with all of you. I know I say this often, but wow, I had an incredibly full month. I might have fallen off my personal 365 project, but I filled up my camera cards on more than one occasion. I met so many new and wonderful clients, some of whom I can now call friends.

The Five on Five post is part of a monthly blog ring, so once you are done here, please make sure you click on through to see what the other amazing ladies in this circle were up to. There will be a link to Adriana’s blog at the bottom of this post. Oh and I am also over on the ViewFinders blog sharing some of my iPhone images, I would love to have you visit there too!

I might have more than five photos (again), enjoy!
FIP (1 of 1)-47I started the month with this sweet family. This was the last frame from our hour together and probably my most favorite- a tough call since this little dude was sporting the sweetest little bow tie and smile. If you want to see more from this family session click here.

2015-05-04_0001I had an incredible day with the four owners of Lolo + Bear. They are a small family owned snack company. The first image is actually an outtake that I am in love with. Just a quiet moment of thought after a long day of photographing and laughing. The other image is a line up of the ingredients to my favorite flavor of their snacks, blueberry/thyme/vanilla clusters. I can’t wait to see where these guys take their dream. Keep your eyes out for their goodies in both Seattle and Portland specialty shops. FIP (1 of 2)-4I took a drive south to Portland, OR and spent the morning in a bakery photographing all the amazing treats that the Bakery & Spice Cakery creates. I had so much fun watching the magic happen in the kitchen all morning long.  I realized after both of my food photography shoots this month just how much I love being in the kitchen capturing the story of food. I can’t wait to do more of this kind of work.   (If you are a small business specializing in food, let’s make something beautiful together. I can help you tell your story and provide you with images for your website and promotional needs!)Yes_JandT_Engage_Web (85 of 130) This sweet couple. Newly engaged, they asked me to join them at Safeco Field and capture their love. I love their laughter here and I can’t wait to work with them again! More from their session can be seen here.2015-05-04_0002My final images from last month are of my personal work. Photographing this friend and her beautiful smile after we shared a delicious brunch, it’s what it’s all about, people. Her grin and laugh are contagious. The artwork on the right side, was seen on a different day with another dear friend. The show, Ann Hamilton: the common Sense was up all month long at The Henry Gallery located on the University of Washington campus. The entire installation had my head spinning in the very best way. So incredible.

Thanks for stopping by this month. I will have full blog posts up of both my Environmental Portrait sessions with Lolo + Bear and The Cakery later this month. Please make sure to click on over to Smallroots to see what her April looked like.

Keep Chasing that light, Vanessa

Such great shots – the outtake from the snack company is great – not so much an outtake at all! And the one of Taunia just makes my heart happy. Lovely, lovely!

I can see why the 365 got pushed aside, what a great month!

I was sad when I realized I had stopped the 365- it actually took me a couple of days to figure it out! haha. but I have gotten a lot of amazing opportunities and the kids are happy I don’t have a camera in their face every minute, haha!
